Events in Antigua and Guatemala City welcome producers to explore practical flock management strategies
CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America recently brought its ‘Knowledge Without Borders’ series to Guatemala, collaborating with industry colleagues Plasson and Phibro to host two dynamic knowledge-sharing events. Designed to offer Guatemalan poultry producers practical flock management strategies, the events focused on improving bird health, welfare, and overall production efficiency.
Held in Antigua (July 21-22) and Guatemala City (July 24), the sessions welcomed representatives from Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI), Agroindustrias Dos Osos, Multi Inversiones R&N, Incubadora Santa Rosa, Avícola Toscana/Prodisa, Avícola Kikiriki, Avícola El Origen, and Avícola La Poderosa.
Sharing insights across the production cycle
In Antigua, Aviagen, Plasson, and Phibro engaged with CMI teams on a range of key topics, including:
- Achieving uniformity in females and fertility in males
- Strengthening biosecurity and respiratory health
- Supporting intestinal health to drive feed efficiency
- Meeting the needs of the modern embryo
- Maximizing chick quality through nutrition and incubation
- Managing birds for comfort and welfare through effective environmental control
- Enhancing outcomes during the final stages of broiler production
In Guatemala City, discussions with a wider group of producers explored:
- Best practices for managing breeder males and females
- The role of water and feed quality in performance
- Precision in incubation and nutrition
- Environmental strategies that promote bird comfort and welfare
A highlight of both events was a session on the central automatic nest – a mechanical nesting system that supports hatchability and welfare through improved egg quality and biosecurity.
